Service Description

Facilitated and hosted by Holistic Management® International Certified Educator, experienced rancher, and owner of Graze the Prairie Linda Pechin-Long and her husband, Keith who is a long time Holistic Planned Grazing operator. Keith holds a bachelor’s degree in animal science and masters’ degree in animal genetics. Topics for the workshop will include: • What is Holistic Management ®and how can it help me? • Practical demonstrations and tools to strategically manage your farm or ranch that will help regenerate the soil, conserve water, and help forage, livestock, wildlife, and people thrive. • Reading the landscape by monitoring for key lead indicators – ecosystem, livestock production, soil, and more. • Creating adaptive livestock genetics for your environment. • Enhancing natural processes (soil health, water infiltration, and plant diversity) to improve ecological resilience for drought and enhance habitat for birds and pollinators. • Examination of risk, stress, and quality of life in production decisions, especially in a drought-prone climate. • Steps you can take back home that allow for early success. There will be a combination of classroom presentations and demonstrations on the ranch. On Wednesday evening, we will host an optional social and steak night with a local cowboy poet.
